We collect as little as we can. New newsletter signups are paused. Earlier hashed-key records can only be removed through unsubscribe. We do not sell addresses.

Study Japanese 101 is a static editorial site with a small Worker in front. Most pages do not collect personal data. This page is the privacy policy for https://studyjapanese101.com/.

The site is published by a small team. We do not list a public office, phone number, or mailing address. There is no contact form.

Newsletter

New newsletter signups are paused. We are not accepting or storing new addresses, and we are not sending letters.

If you submitted an address earlier, that hashed-key record may still sit in a private Cloudflare KV namespace on our account. The lookup key is a hash of the email so we can find or delete a record without listing the whole book in the site files. Addresses are not committed to the repository and are not written to application logs.

Unsubscribe on /newsletter is the only way to remove that record. We do not publish a support inbox on this site. We do not sell addresses or share them with a list vendor. There is no Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or other list vendor in this setup.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, submitted the unsubscribe form. The Turnstile token is verified on the Worker. We do not use the token for marketing.

Outbound visits

/go/ routes send you to an allowlisted official host. They do not store IP addresses, user agents, complete referrers, or a persistent user identifier. The Worker records only an aggregate count per offer ID so editors can see which official destinations readers actually open.

If a directory search returns no resources, the page may send the sanitized query (lowercase, letters and numbers only, 40 characters maximum) to our Worker. We do not store the raw typing, emails, IP addresses, or a user identifier. The counts help us see missing resource names.

Study tools

Study tools run in your browser. Answers, scores, quiz misses, stack answers, and planner inputs stay in memory or in localStorage on this device. When a quiz or drill session finishes, or when you first change a calculator, the page may send an aggregate tool_run count with only the public tool slug (kana-quiz, srs-workload-simulator, study-stack-builder, conjugation-drill, or jlpt-planner). We do not send answers, typed input, scores, or a user identifier.

Logs and analytics

Cloudflare may collect standard request logs and zone analytics (path, status, country, user agent). We do not run a third-party marketing pixel. If Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled on the zone, it measures visits without using advertising cookies. Editorial event counts use Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine with the same no-PII rule.

What we do not collect

There is no account system and no payment form on this site. We do not collect new newsletter addresses. We do not sell addresses or outbound-click data. We do not run advertising cookies of our own. We do not build a cross-site profile of readers.

How long we keep data

An earlier newsletter record lasts until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribe deletes it. Aggregate /go/ counts, sanitized zero-result queries, and tool-run slugs have no reader identity attached. Cloudflare request logs follow Cloudflare’s own retention on the zone.

Children

The library is written for adults. We do not knowingly store newsletter addresses from children. If a parent used the form earlier by mistake, unsubscribe on /newsletter removes the record.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. The live page is the current policy.
