Kanji Damage
A free mnemonic kanji guide for learners who want an order and stories, and who do not want another subscription.
Good fit if
- Learners who want a free kanji sequence
- People who remember stories better than isolated strokes
- Readers who will pair the guide with real Japanese
Look elsewhere if
- You want a managed review queue and levels
- You need a polished mobile course
- Off-color mnemonics will put you off
Kanji Damage is a long-running free site that walks kanji with component stories and a published order. It is closer to a book you can browse than to an app that nags you.
Who it fits
It fits adults who will actually open the next character and write a sentence later. The tone is informal on purpose. If that helps you keep going, use it. If it grates, pick a drier course.
Limits
There is no productized SRS queue here. You still need reading, or a review tool you already trust. It is not a speaking system and it is not a vocabulary curriculum.
Pair it with NHK News Web Easy or a dictionary. Do not run it beside WaniKani as a second sequence.
