Minna no Nihongo
A classroom textbook series. Strong with a teacher. Harder to self-study than Genki because the main book is Japanese-only.

Good fit if
- Learners in a class that already assigned it
- People who want lots of drills
- Students who will buy the translation companion
Look elsewhere if
- You are self-studying with no teacher
- You want English explanations in the main book
- Genki or Irodori already covers your year
Minna no Nihongo is a beginner-to-intermediate classroom series from 3A Network. The main text is Japanese. A separate translation and grammar companion is sold for English speakers.
Who it fits
It fits classes and tutors who already built a syllabus around it. Drill volume is high if you do the workbooks.
Limits
Self-study is harder than Genki because explanations live in another book. Irodori is the free structured alternative if you are not in that classroom.
