Moji
Kanji widgets alongside readings, examples, guided writing, and spaced review. Fits learners who want a visible cue to return to focused character practice.
Good fit if
- Learners who want kanji visible between study sessions
- People combining character recognition with example words
- Students who want guided stroke practice beside review
Look elsewhere if
- You expect a widget glance to replace active practice
- You need a full course as your main resource
- You want a free ongoing kanji tool
The study job
Moji combines kanji widgets with readings, audio, examples, guided stroke practice, and spaced review. The site describes iPhone Lock Screen widgets and Android home screen widgets. Android Lock Screen options depend on the device.
How to evaluate it
Attempt a meaning or example word before looking at the answer. Open one useful word, hear its reading, and return to focused reviews later. If handwriting matters, try the shape from memory after following the strokes.
These are suggested evaluation steps, not recorded hands-on results. A familiar shape is only the start; check whether you can read the character in a word away from the widget.
Limits and cost
The App Store listing includes in-app purchases, and developer responses describe trial-based paid access. Confirm the current offer on your device rather than treating a free download as free study.
A memory story is a recall aid, not necessarily a historical explanation. Widgets do not provide speaking feedback or replace grammar and reading practice.
Other paths
Compare WaniKani if a fixed kanji sequence matters more than widgets. Use the kanji hub for other character-study approaches and the reading hub to give the words somewhere to appear.
